The Protestant Police Chaplaincy has been playing a critical role in the shaping of spiritual growth and development of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).The multifarious activities of Protestant Chaplaincy in the Southeast Zone of the country range from social, psychological, and spiritual, to educational. This study dwells on the Protestant Chaplaincy in the Nigerian Police, Southeast Zone of Nigeria, 2006-2016. The research examines the origin, nature, and the activities of the Protestant Chaplaincy, and also analyses its impact, particularly in the lives of Police officers and the Police communities in the region. Drawing information from primary and secondary sources, obtained from various Police commands in the region, the study adopts qualitative methods of historical research and thematic presentation and interpretation of facts in unraveling the history and many-sided role of the Protestant Chaplaincy in the development of the Police in the Southeast Zone of the country. The study discovered that many police officers and families received spiritual impartation in many dimensions. Many Police formations in the region also witnessed structural, numerical, spiritual, humanitarian growth and achievements. The study suggests that the very important role which the Protestant Chaplaincy has been playing in the social life of the Police force in the area urges the need for urgent and greater attention to be given to the department in the areas of inter-chaplaincy tolerance, finance, recruitment of chaplains and among many others.
