ABSTRACT:

A composer is the creator or manufacturer of music. He is basically skilled and versed in the handling of musical notations, musical elements, and orchestration. A composer expresses himself, using musical sounds created in hymns and chant form, Baroque or Classical form, in romantic elegance, in African style or in contemporary form. However, the problem of this study is the negation of the rules and forms of composition by composers of music. The study aims to affirm the importance of rules and forms of compositions that have existed over the years in African or Western panache for musical compositions. Objectives include: to improve the in-depth knowledge of the study of music theory and composition through a research work of diverse compositions. To actualize the rhythmic patterns of music that flow through the researcher’s mind in musical form. Observing rules and forms of composition; for the composition of contemporary music for entertainment and worship. Contribute to the existing repertoire of music for the performance and study of music. The study reviewed twenty-one original compositions, two arranged, and five violin instrumental works. The qualitative research methods for obtaining musical materials and data for this research included the review of related literature, creative compositions and content analysis. The study reveals that though music composition involves a deep sense of reflection and inspiration, the researcher utilized the knowledge of existing music theories in composing contemporary music. The study concludes that the researcher’s compositions from her analysis are suitable for worship and entertainment.
