This study ascertained Head-teachers’ awareness and utilization of management techniques for the administration of public primary schools in Anambra. 6 research questions were answered and six null hypotheses were tested in the study. The descriptive survey design was adopted with a sample of 420 participants made up of 170 inexperience and 250 experienced head-teachers of public primary schools in the State. A researcher developed instruments titled head-teachers’ awareness of management techniques (HAMTQ) and head-teachers utilization of management techniques (HUMTQ) were used to collect data for the study. The instruments were validated by three experts in the field of educational management. Reliability coefficients of 0.98, 0.99 and 0.99 were obtained for the 3 sections of the HAMTQ using test re-test method. Internal consistency co-efficient of 0.96, 0.89 and 0.78 were obtained for the three sections HUMTAQ using the Cronbach Alpha method. The response questions were answered using mean scores while t-test statistics were used for hypotheses. The p-value was used to determine the significance of difference at 0.05 significant level. The result revealed among others that Majority of the headteachers (92.1%) are aware of management By objectives as a management technique for primary school administration. Few of the headteachers (25.8%) are aware of Delphi as a management technique for primary school administration, few of the headteachers (4.5%) agree they utilize Delphi as a management technique for primary school administration. Equally, there is no significant difference in the responses of experienced and inexperienced headteachers on the awareness of Planning Programming Budgeting Systems as management technique for primary school administration. Based on the findings, the study recommended among others Government should provide in-service training for head-teachers on management techniques in order to help them acquire balanced knowledge instead of relying on their experience or focusing on few management techniques and that head- teachers should be exposed to seminars and workshops so that they will be equipped with the modern tools of management to bring about improved administration in our public schools.
